Bowel Cancer Screening Programme - Programme Manager

The post holder will work closely with the lead SSP, clinical lead and Operational Managers to support the performance of the service, building relationships with service leads in Northumbria Healthcare and Newcastle Upon Tyne Hospitals.

This will include tracking patient pathways, coordination of endoscopy lists with clinical endoscopists, leading the team and the direction of service. The post holder will directly manage the admin team and support the day to day management and leadership of the clinical team alongside the lead SSP.

The role requires excellent communication skills, strong leadership, and the ability to work autonomously while maintaining strong collaborative relationships with endoscopy, colorectal, and administrative teams.

Previous experience in leadership is essential, a familiarity with cancer pathways and screening programmes would be advantageous. There is a need to be flexible to the needs of the service, working across multiple sites to support the clinical teams. Therefore a valid driving licence and use of a vehicle for work is essential.

The successful candidate will receive training and support to embed themself into the role but will be expected to provide all aspects of day to day leadership for the team and service independently.

Leadership of the BCSP north of tyne programme

Collaborative working across the consortium

Working closely with the national team and local services to embed best practice for patients

Maintaining and improving performance of the 28 day faster diagnosis standard

In conjunction with the lead SSP and clinical lead, taking a role in service improvement, audit, and quality assurance processes

Supporting the delivery of high standards of care in line with national BCSP requirements

Work collaboratively with the Screening Programme Hub providing the link with the acute services.

Supporting co-ordination of health promotion activities with local providers to facilitate awareness and access.

The North of Tyne Bowel Cancer Screening Centre is a partnership between both Northumbria Healthcare Foundation Trust and Newcastle Upon Tyne NHS Foundation Trust.
