BOA National Future Leaders Fellowship - Foot & Ankle

The successful candidate will work with the Consultant Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Surgeons, concentrating upon foot and ankle surgery, including ankle joint replacements, arthroscopic ankle surgery and complex foot and ankle trauma surgery. They will have a weekly planned fellow operating list for treating patients who have been referred by the general trauma team but require the expertise of the foot and ankle team.

There is the opportunity for the post holder to take part in an out of hours trauma on call. The Trust has strong links with Teesside University and has a track record of supporting trainees through various clinical courses provided by the University. Although the successful candidate will be based at University Hospital of North Tees, there will be a requirement to work cross site at the University Hospital of Hartlepool. It is a fixed term contract for 12 months. It is essential that the applicant has a good understanding of clinical risk management and experience of upper limb surgery. In addition to the challenges of the role, we expect commitment to clinical research, teaching and audit. It is important that the applicant is a team player and adaptable to respond to changing circumstances and be willing to engage in NHS strategies. Qualifications

Essential: - Medical Degree; - Full registration with the General Medical Council or within 12 months of their CCT; - MRCS/MBBS; - FRCS (T&O)

Desirable: - An additional higher qualification relevant to the specialty; - MSc or PHD; - Academic excellence

Experience

Desirable: - Up to date ATLS; - Evidence of middle grade experience in trauma and orthopaedics
