Bladder and Bowel Clinical Nurse Specialist (Band 6) Job Introduction Make a meaningful difference to adults living with bladder and bowel conditions. The BSW Adult Bladder and Bowel Service is a nurse-led specialist team providing assessment, treatment, advice and ongoing support to adults aged 18+ with complex bladder and bowel symptoms. Working in partnership with patients, GPs and a wide range of clinical colleagues, the team also delivers education, advice and training to internal and external healthcare professionals. The service supports communities across Bath and North East Somerset, Swindon and Wiltshire. The post is based at Melksham Community Hospital , with travel across localities required to deliver care through telephone assessments, face-to-face clinics, and home or care home visits. You'll work collaboratively with specialist services including pelvic health physiotherapy, urology, colorectal, gynaecology and gastroenterology, as well as community teams such as district nursing, tissue viability, Parkinson's and MS services. This is an exciting opportunity to join the service during a period of development and change, where your ideas and input will be welcomed as we continue to shape and improve how care is delivered. The role is 22.5 hours per week , working Monday to Friday between 8am and 5pm, with no current requirement for weekends or bank holidays. The post may involve occasional exposure to challenging situations and patients who are distressed or confused, so resilience, professionalism and compassion are essential. Main Responsibilities

Deliver compassionate, patient-centred bladder and bowel care, working autonomously and within a multidisciplinary teamAssess, plan and deliver high-quality, evidence-based care that promotes equality, dignity and inclusionCommunicate clearly and non-judgementally with patients, carers, GPs and wider clinical teamsSupport and empower patients through education, self-management and lifestyle adviceRecognise and respond appropriately to changes in patient condition using sound clinical judgementUndertake intimate clinical examinations in line with professional standards and guidelinesManage caseloads, clinics and referrals, including triage and urgent adviceWork within professional competencies, seeking guidance when neededMaintain accurate and timely clinical records using IT systemsContribute to service delivery, development, audits and team activitiesAct as deputy to the Service Lead when requiredUphold confidentiality, professionalism and compliance with organisational policies Please see the attached job description for full details of the role. Registered Adult Nurse with a minimum of 2 years' post-registration experienceStrong interest and enthusiasm for specialist adult bladder and bowel careCompassionate, patient-focused approach with excellent communication skillsUp-to-date knowledge of best practice in bladder and bowel careAbility to undertake comprehensive, holistic clinical assessmentsConfident use of IT systems to produce accurate clinical records and correspondenceStrong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workload effectivelyEvidence of ongoing professional developmentWillingness to act as a link nurse and share knowledge across the teamAbility to support and supervise junior staff or studentsRecognised qualification in mentorship, teaching or practice education (or equivalent)Full UK driving licence with access to a vehicle insured for work purposesWillingness to travel across the BSW area and occasionally attend external training/events Desirable Criteria
