Rotation through all sections within the chosen department will provide candidates with a wide range of experience. The role involves taking a leading role in achieving daily workload targets therefore effective interpersonal and communication skills are crucial. The ability to work efficiently as part of a team and be able to prioritise work in order to meet strict deadlines is essential.
Analyse pathology specimens and provide technically accurate results. Be professionally accountable for the interpretation of patients' results to enable diagnostic and treatment regimes for clinical colleagues. Provide specialist knowledge and assistance to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of patients within their area of responsibility.
The post holder will be expected to work with senior staff to help support the integration of Haematology into Pathology from a staff, IT and technological perspective.
The post holder will be expected to work across TVPS attending all sites as necessary.
The post holder will be expected to have specialist knowledge of all sections of the service and be involved in delivering research and development within that service. They will also be expected to participate in the training and development of new, trainee or support staff.
After completion of training, the post holder will be expected to participate in the out of hours rota including late shifts, nights and weekends.

- IBMS Accreditated Degree
- Completed Registration Portfolio / HCPC registered
- Evidence of continuous professional development (CPD)
Qualifications Band 6
Essential
- IBMS accredited degree
- Completed Registration Portfolio / HCPC registered
- Completed a Specialist Portfolio in an appropriate discipline
- Evidence of continuous professional development (CPD)
Experience Band 5
Essential
- Experience of working in an accredited NHS clinical Haematology, Coagulation and Blood Transfusion department
- Experience of computer packages e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc
Experience Band 6
Essential
- Experience of Quality Management Systems and ISO 15189 standards
Knowledge Band 5
Essential
- Knowledge of laboratory techniques and Biomedical science.
- Knowledge of relevant legislation and health safety measure.
- Able to understand new technological advance.
Knowledge Band 6

- Working knowledge of Pathology IT Systems
