This is a specialized post, requiring a high level of knowledge relating to national and international legislation, regulations, management and conduct of biobanking. The post holder will implement and maintain quality systems to ISO accreditation standards and ensure compliance with Trust policy, regarding non-compliance and CAPA reports. Nurturing a team of over 20 staff, with varying levels of experience to maintain the required standards requires excellent communication, organisation and deployment skills.

King's Health Partners Cancer Biobank has supported translational cancer research at a national level since the 1970's. During that time, the Biobank has accrued samples from more than 51,000 patients and supplied significant numbers of samples to researchers worldwide. We have recently received approval from UKAS for ISO20387:2018 accreditation.
The Biobank supports a significant number of programmes and projects led by the Trust and King's College London School of Cancer and Pharmaceutical Sciences. This includes an extensive cancer organoid generation programme and working with other academic and commercial partners. With a team of more than 20 dedicated personnel, the Biobank specialist skills and facilities are increasingly utilised for translational cancer research and clinical trial purposes.
Qualifications
Essential: - Degree in life Sciences or equivalent theoretical knowledge; - Post graduate diploma or equivalent in relevant field; - Evidence of CPD
Previous Experience
Essential
- Proven quality management experience with good knowledge of management theory
- Experience of carry out audits and CAPA planning
- Experience of developing SOPs and quality assurance processes
Desirable: - Experience of UKAS accreditation assessment; - Prior experience of working in a laboratory environment
Skills

- Excellent communication skills
- In depth knowledge of quality management practices
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements relevant to Biobanks within the NHS
- Presentation skills
