Are you passionate about supporting young people and interested in gaining hands-on experience in SEMH, behaviour and specialist education?

A specialist education setting in Gloucester is looking for a dedicated and resilient Behaviour Support Worker to join their team. You'll be supporting students who may experience social, emotional and mental health needs, behavioural challenges and barriers to learning.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone looking to build valuable experience before pursuing a career in psychology, youth work, counselling, mental health or specialist education.

  • Build positive, trusting relationships with students and act as a consistent source of support
  • Support young people with SEMH, behavioural and additional learning needs
  • Encourage positive behaviour, emotional regulation and engagement with learning
  • Help students develop confidence, independence and positive coping strategies
  • Support students who may struggle within a mainstream classroom environment
  • Work closely with teachers, pastoral staff and other professionals to provide consistent support
  • Help create a calm, safe and positive learning environment

  • Gain valuable hands-on experience working with young people with SEMH needs
  • Develop your understanding of behaviour, emotional regulation and additional needs
  • Excellent experience for aspiring Clinical, Educational or Forensic Psychologists
  • Build experience that can lead towards careers in psychology, mental health, youth work or education

  • A Psychology graduate or studying towards a related degree
  • Experienced in youth work, support work, education or mentoring
  • Passionate about supporting young people with additional needs
  • Confident, patient and resilient
  • Able to build positive relationships with challenging or vulnerable young people
  • Interested in gaining experience within SEMH and specialist education

Previous experience working with SEMH or challenging behaviour is beneficial, but not essential. Most importantly, we're looking for someone who is committed, approachable and genuinely wants to make a difference.
