As a Bank Care Assistant, you will provide high-quality, person-centred care and support to individuals, helping them maintain their dignity, independence and wellbeing. Working as part of a dedicated care team, you will assist with daily living activities, provide emotional support, and ensure a safe, comfortable and caring environment for those in your care.

1.Be aware of the patients care plans and report back to the nurse in charge regarding the care and support delivered to the patient for the duration of a shift.

2.When requested by the nurse in charge, take part in the nursing handover.

3.Communicate appropriately with patients, their carers and relatives and other visitors to the Hospice.

4.Communicate appropriately with all staff, liaising with other departments and attend departmental meetings as requested.

5.Under the direction of the nurse in charge, keep all patient and ward areas clean and tidy reporting any concerns to the nurse in charge.

6.Report any complaints or concerns raised by patients, families or visitors to the nurse in charge.

7.Participate in the orientation and induction of new paid and unpaid staff, students and visitors to the inpatient unit.

8.Under the direction of the nurse in charge, work alongside and support volunteers working on the inpatient unit.

9.Encourage and assist patients and relatives to complete person-centred information.

10.Refer to person centred information and to support the delivery of care to patients and those important to them

11.Attend statutory training as requested

12.Undertake any other relevant duties as reasonably requested by the Senior Sister.

Experience

Essential

  • 1. Excellent interpersonal skills
  • 2. The ability to work well within a multi-disciplinary setting
  • 3. Excellent understanding of the hospice and palliative care
  • 4. Experience of providing person centred care
  • 5. Able to work on a rota basis involving shifts, nights and weekends.

Desirable

  • Experience of caring for people in a palliative care setting.

Qualifications

Essential

  • 1.Evidence of recent care experience
  • 2.Evidence of relevant Health & Social Care training/qualification, including the Care Certificate, or willingness to work towards

Desirable

  • NVQ Level 3 Health and Social Care or equivalent
