Band 6 Mental Health Practitioner CAMHS - North Somerset

• To undertake comprehensive assessment and treatment to children and young people and their families under the age of 18.
• To carry out face to face and remote assessments for young people presenting with mental health difficulties in the community.
• To work in the Getting Advice triage team as part of job plan
• To manage a caseload of identified young people, offering appointments in a timely way, and working towards discharge where appropriate
• To provide comprehensive clinical risk assessment and management in relation to children and young people including those presenting with self-injurious behaviour.
• To implement risk management and safety plans collaboratively.
• To develop collaborative care plans with young people and their families, based on the assessment of needs.
• To deliver evidence based interventions to children, young people and families according to NICE guidance and local pathways of care.
• To liaise with relevant agencies in the delivery of care for children young people and their families/ carers
• Using resources creatively to engage and motivate young people and families in their care.
• To maintain care records, ensuring both paper and electronic records are kept up to date in accordance with professional and organisational standards.
• Participate in the running of therapeutic groups/workshops

Essential

• Professional qualification leading to registration with professional body e.g. Mental Health Nursing, Family Therapy, Clinical Psychology, Child Psychotherapy or other professional qualification with evidence of robust community CAMH experience and the use of CAPA approach to clinical assessment and intervention.
• 2 years post qualifying experience in mental health nursing or equivalent as above
• Additionally, if not incorporated into the professional qualification, a therapeutic qualification for work with children, adolescents and their families to Masters Level or equivalent is required.

Essential

• Significant experience of working in a CAMHS team
• Significant experience of delivering evidence based therapeutic interventions preferably with children and adolescents

Desirable

• Experience in a community CAMHS service across more than one role
• Experience of providing clinical supervision to colleagues and more junior staff including trainees/students
