Job description

At University Hospitals Birmingham, our Estates teams have always understood a simple truth: patient safety starts with safe, well maintained building...

You will undertake planned, reactive and emergency maintenance across a complex estate, ensuring electrical systems, plant and associated infrastructure are safe, compliant and fully operational.

You will carry out inspection, testing, fault diagnosis, repair and commissioning of electrical installations and equipment in line with statutory legislation and Trust policies. Acting as a Competent Person, you will use approved isolation, permit to work and safe systems of work to ensure tasks are completed to a high standard.

The role involves managing and prioritising workloads, responding to routine and urgent requests while minimising disruption to clinical services. You will provide day to day technical oversight and guidance to maintenance assistants, apprentices and contractors, ensuring quality, safety and professionalism.

You will work both independently and as part of a wider multi trade team, contributing to service continuity through participation in the on call rota. Identifying risks, escalating defects and supporting continuous improvement are central to maintaining a safe environment for patients, staff and visitors.

You will benefit from 27 days annual leave plus flexible bank holidays, rising to 33 with service, renowned pension, which includes life assurance and long term security for you. Combined with stable employment, development opportunities and the chance to make a real difference locally, Solihull is a place where people choose to build a long term career.
