Professional Responsibilities
- Assess patient care needs and the development and implementation of programmes of patient care and participate in the evaluation of these.
- To ensure a high standard of nursing care is performed at all times and assist in the review and regular update of these standards.
- Ability to recognise and respond appropriately to changes in the patient's condition and safety.
Management Responsibilities
- To manage the maintenance of an acceptable environment for patients, reporting and taking appropriate action on hazards and faulty equipment.
- To report incidents using the Trust electronic incident reporting system.
- Management of patients with regard to their nursing /clinical needs as directed by the nurse in charge.
Professional and Legal Responsibilities
- Maintain professional portfolio.
- Maintain clinical study to fulfil professional registration and show evidence ofcontinuing professional development.
- To uphold the principles of the NMC code of professional conduct.
- To be conversant with all the Nursing policies and Procedures.
Successful candidates will enter into a robust and varied training programme, delivered and coordinated by our Practice Development Nurse. You can look forward to daily teaching, simulation training, minors skills development and an individualised personal development plan, supported by the PDN and Band 7 leads.

- Current Registered Nurse with the NMC and PIN available

- Mentorship or teaching qualification
Knowledge/Experience

- Demonstrates awareness of current changes in the NHS - in particular related to Nursing
- Awareness of the NHS and Emergency Department various targets
Desirable
- Knowledge of clinical effectiveness, governance, research and audit
Skills
Essential
- Venepuncture and Cannulation
- Competent in the administration of intravenous medication
- Competent with female and male catheterisation
- Immediate Life support
Desirable
- Ability to prioritise and organise workload (examples)
- Ability to use computers and software such as Word/Excel or the equivalent
- Basic Life support
