Duties include a comprehensive range of otological assessments, recommending and undertaking appropriate rehabilitation and management.
Adults - Assess the hearing of adults and offer rehabilitation. This may be providing a hearing aid(s) to a patient, counselling them and their significant others to facilitate their communication needs.
Paediatrics - Support the assessment of hearing in children from pre-school to sixteen years of age.
Job Summary Purpose An audiologist who provides specialised diagnostic tests for ENT and treatment of hearing. Duties include a comprehensive range of otological assessments, recommending and undertaking appropriate rehabilitation and management. Role is both challenging and varied with a need to be able to communicate effectively with people of all ages, to think logically and adopt a scientific approach combined with a caring and patient-focused attitude. Adults Assess the hearing of adults and offer rehabilitation. This may be providing a hearing aid(s) to a patient, counselling them and their significant others to facilitate their communication needs. Paediatrics Support the assessment of hearing in children from pre-school to sixteen years of age. Working closely with ENT Consultants, Health Visitors, Teachers of hearing impaired and Speech and Language Therapists. Special needs Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team of professionals to address the needs of those with special requirements. For example; children and adults with learning difficulties, hearing impaired and visually impaired adults and children. Research and Development Involved in local or national research projects developing knowledge of audiological matters and improving services for patients.
We operatefrom three main hospitals-Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community healthcare premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, andUlverstonCommunity Health Centre.
FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services.
WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.
All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies,daycase and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.

Essential
- . BSc (Hons) Audiology or equivalent. . RCCP Registration
- Different hearing aid software . Ability to perform hearing aid fittings and reassessments . Diagnostic audiology for EN
- Audiology database knowledge. . IT literate
- Enthusiastic self-motivated. . Patience. . Ability to interact with a diverse range of people. . Work autonomously. . Use own initiative. . Ability to travel (cover of outreach clinics may be necessary).
Desirable
- BSL (british sign language)
- BLS (basic life support adults and children)
- Team player. . Good organisational skills.
