The nursing associate has a breadth of knowledge across the lifespan and across the fields of nursing, providing holistic and person-centred care and support for people of all ages and in a variety of settings.

The nursing associate works independently under the leadership of registered nurses, working within the sphere of nursing and care and within all aspects of the nursing process.

Nursing associates are equipped with knowledge relevant to employment as a nursing associate and will work to a nationally recognised code of conduct

To be responsible for all aspects of patient care during their stay including the assessment, planning, delivery and evaluation of direct care.

To support the Charge Nurse /Senior sister to monitor the safety and quality of care for patients ensuring it delivers the best clinical outcomes and patient experience.

Education & professional Qualifications

Essential

  • Evidence of literacy and numeracy skills to GCSE or equivalent
  • Achievement of assessor training
  • Foundation degree in Health and Social Care or equivalent

Experience

Essential: - Previous recent experience of working with patients in a hospital environment; - Previous recent experience of teamwork

Desirable: - Previous recent experience of customer care

  • Ability to perform area specific core clinical competencies.
  • Competent in clinical decision making and prioritising care for a defined group of patients.
