The role involves delivering care to children in a variety of settings, including home and school. The successful candidate will be trained in a variety of clinical skills such as gastrostomy feeding, suction, oxygen therapy using a competency based framework. You will received continued support in the role.
You will need a good level of basic education including computer skills and at least NVQ level 3 in a child or young adult related subject or equivalent level of experience related subject. Experience working with children who are ventilated or have complex health problems would be beneficial but not essential. It is also important the successful candidate is innovative in providing play and learning opportunities for the children.
You will need to be flexible in the community setting and a good team player and be able to develop collaborative working relationships with other healthcare professionals, services and agencies.

Qualifications / training
Essential
- NVQ/RQF Level 3 in a child or young adult related subject or equivalent in child-care of health and social care
- Evidence of literacy / numeracy skills [GCSE or equivalent].
- Be willing to undertake competency based training with annual updates as a minimum.
Experience
Essential
- Experience of working with children with complex health needs
- Willingness to work in health care and education environment with complex care needs children
- Able to work with minimal supervision in MDT (once competencies achieved) Ability to stay calm in stressful situations
Skills / knowledge
Essential
- Ability to provide nursing care sensitively, taking into account the client's culture, beliefs and wishes.
- Awareness of health and safety in the workplace
- Excellent communication skills (oral and written).
- Competent IT skills
- Knowledge of the needs of a multicultural, socially diverse population.
- Knowledge of policies and procedures related to safeguarding adults and children
Personal qualities

- Able to demonstrate a commitment to team working
- Able to demonstrate awareness of and sensitivity to the needs of individuals from diverse social and cultural groups.
