An exciting opportunity has presented for a self-motivated, proactive and hard working individual to join our team in St Thomas' inpatient dispensary....
The main duties of a Assistant Technical Officer;
- Assisting with reception and phone duties
- Answering and resolving complex queries from doctors, nurses and other healthcare professionals
- Dispensing inpatient and Discharge medications
- Dispensing controlled drugs using our controlled drug omnicell cabinet
- Basic understanding of controlled drug medication and legalities
- Returning/ Discarding of medication following procedures
- Ordering, monitoring and stocking the Dispensary appliances daily
- Dispensary stock checks
- Rotation of stock to ensure minimal stock loss
- Omnicell cabinet counts for ward stock/Departments
- Dispensing of inpatient and discharge medication

Skills
Essential
- Demonstrated ability to work to set procedures SOP's accurately
- Demonstrated ability to work as a team
- Demonstrated ability to dispense accurately including basic mathematical prescriptions
- Demonstrated ability to organise their own workload
Previous Experience
Essential: - Previous experience working in a Pharmacy
Desirable: - Previous experience in Stock control
Knowledge/Qualifications
Essential: - Maths/English/Science GCSE level A-C; - NVQ/QCF level 2
Desirable: - BTEC science/A level sciences; - NVQ/QCF level 3 in appropriate units
