As Assistant Team Manager, you will provide advanced Occupational Therapy practice and operational leadership for the Front Door duty, triage and allocation function within Adult Social Care.
Reporting to the Service Manager / Principal Occupational Therapist, you will support the day-to-day management of the service, oversee incoming referrals and allocations, provide professional leadership to Occupational Therapy and Social work staff, and ensure timely, strengths-based and person-centred responses for residents. You will also play a key role in supporting complex case management, promoting independence, and driving service improvement.
Your role will involve
- Leading the Front Door Occupational Therapy duty, triage and allocation function, ensuring referrals are prioritised and managed effectively.
- Providing professional leadership, supervision, mentoring and practice oversight to Occupational Therapy staff, including support with complex and high-risk cases.
- Managing a small complex caseload and supporting high-quality assessments, safeguarding enquiries, Mental Capacity Act work and risk management planning.
- Working collaboratively with health colleagues, partner agencies and multidisciplinary teams to achieve the best outcomes for residents and carers.
- Driving service improvement initiatives, championing strengths-based practice, assistive technology and innovative approaches that promote independence and prevention.

Experience
Essential
- What we are looking for:
- A qualified Occupational Therapist with HCPC registration and a recognised Occupational Therapy degree.
- Significant post-qualification experience within adult social care and adult physical dysfunction, including supervisory or leadership responsibilities.
- Strong knowledge of relevant legislation, including the Care Act 2014 and Mental Capacity Act, and the ability to apply this in practice.
- Excellent communication, leadership and partnership-working skills, with experience of working across multidisciplinary teams and external agencies.
- The ability to manage competing priorities, oversee complex cases, and promote best practice, innovation and positive outcomes for residents.
