Job description

The service is delighted to advertise 3 fixed term posts for Assistant Psychologists to support the implementation of the Local Authority’s Expert at Hand offer.

Assistant Psychologists will play a key role in promoting inclusive practice in schools and settings across the Local Authority, working closely with EPs and multi-agency professionals as part of an early intervention model. The role will include:

  • Delivering evidence-informed interventions with children and young people, building on their strengths to address a range of barriers to their learning and social-emotional development
  • Working collaboratively with parents, carers, school staff, and other professionals to develop effective approaches that promote inclusion, achievement and success
  • Contributing to projects, training, research and service development activities alongside supportive colleagues
  • Contributing to the production of psychological reports, written feedback and the development of resources, guidance and information for schools and settings
  • Continuing your professional development through participation in training opportunities and high-quality professional supervision.

As an applicant, you will bring existing experience of work with children and young people in education or community settings, alongside a 2:1 (or above Psychology degree (with BPS Graduate Basis for Chartered Membership). You’ll be a friendly, motivated person, who enjoys being part of a team as well as feeling comfortable working independently. You’ll be organised, an effective communicator and able to meet deadlines.

Darlington EPS is committed to supporting the development of those who are aspiring to become Educational Psychologists. These roles will provide a valuable opportunity to develop the skills, knowledge and experience required to support future professional training.
