The HCA works within the PCN and practice to
support the nursing and administrative teams in the delivery of patient care.
This role involves working as part of the practice multi-disciplinary team,
delivering care within their scope of practice to the entitled patient
population.
Having completed the Care Certificate or equivalent
qualification, the HCA will deliver and assist clinical staff in the provision
of treatment and preventative care, The post holder will be an integral part of
the general practice team and will need to work well with all levels of staff
and with patients from a variety of backgrounds.
Supporting the PCN personal care team in their duties to deliver
Practice housebound and care home services
Supporting the PCN team in their
duties to deliver care to patients under their patient list within practice
clinics including
- new patient health checks /NHS
health checks / Weight Management,
- ECG recording
- Phlebotomy
- INRs
- Warfarin Management
- Assist with Learning Disability
and Mental Health annual reviews
- To give flu vaccines /
immunisations within the scope of established protocols,
- Chaperoning duties
- Processing and management of laboratory
samples requested by GPs/nurses.
- Maintenance of surgical
equipment,
- Cleaning of clinical areas
within remit of role,
- Vaccine/cold chain storage
monitoring and recording Surgical equipment and vaccine re-stocking and stock
rotation
- Clearing and re-stocking
consulting rooms
- Preparing and maintaining
environments and equipment before, during and after patient care interventions,
including assisting GPs during the performance of minor operations
- Assisting in the assessment and
surveillance of patients health and well-being.
- Undertaking specific clinical
activities for named patients that have been delegated and taught specifically
in relation to that individual.
- Helping to raise awareness of
health and well-being and how it can be promoted.
- Assisting with the collection
and collation of data on needs related to health and well-being.
- Follows aseptic technique in
removal of sutures, clips, dressings as per nursing care plan.
- At all times, observes infection
control procedures and protocols to protect patients, colleagues and
themselves.
You will be employed in an ARRS Healthcare Support
Worker role by Township 2 PCN Limited primarily based at the Richmond Medical
Centre, 465 Richmond Road, Sheffield. The practice boundary includes a mixed
demographic which provides opportunity to work with patients from all different
backgrounds. The staff team includes a wide skill mix and we provide a
supportive environment with a focus on staff wellbeing. We are looking for a
caring, motivated and skilled HCA/Phlebotomist to join our team.
Experience
Essential
- A minimum of 12 months recent, paid experience working in a Primary Care environment within the UK
- Understands the role of a Healthcare Support Worker and can evidence this in the application form
- Provide good details in supporting information highlighting key skills, knowledge and experience.
- Knowledge and use of Systmone
Desirable
- - experience of working in Primary Care
Qualifications
Essential
- A recognised care qualification; NVQ,QCF, Health & Social Care Apprenticeship, BTEC, Care Certificate or Access to Healthcare.
- Phlebotomy qualification
