The role of the Ambulance Care Assistant involves the transportation of non-urgent patients to and from health/social care premises and private residences. This is a responsible role which requires a professional and caring attitude, as well as teamwork.

You will work in a team of two, or on your own, undertaking duties in a variety of vehicle types.

You need a full UK manual car driving licence, with at least one years driving experience and a maximum of 6 points for SP30 driving offences.

Your role with EEAST PTS would start with a 3 week paid training course (Monday - Friday). The training involves clinical training to be a 'First Person on Scene', patient transport driver training. The first 2 weeks training will be held in Welwyn Garden City. Driver Training location will be advised.

You MUST be able to commit to undertaking the full three week training course as outlined above.

You'll have the opportunity to work in one of the most diverse regions in the country, with the vibrant capital city just a stone's throw away and the invigorating North Sea coast to the east.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Full car driving licence (max 6 penalty points on licence or clean if licence is obtained within two years of application).
  • Literate and numerate to Trust tested level.

Desirable

  • Advanced Driving certification.
  • Maths and English GCSE grade C or above or equivalent.
  • C1 category licence.

Experience

Essential

  • Experience of working with the public, demonstrating sound customer care skills.
  • Experience of working in a fast-paced environment and ability to remain calm and professional.
  • Experience of working to deadlines and in timeframes.

Skills & Knowledge

Essential

  • Awareness of Safeguarding Policy and Procedures.

Desirable

  • Knowledge of Patient Transport Services.
  • IT literate.
  • Previous work in a caring profession.
