As an Advanced Nurse Practitioner, you will

  • Independently assess, diagnose and manage acute and minor illness presentations.
  • Undertake advanced clinical assessment and clinical decision-making.
  • Prescribe safely and effectively as an Independent Prescriber.
  • Request, interpret and act upon appropriate investigations.
  • Deliver both face-to-face and telephone consultations.
  • Work collaboratively within the Practice Duty Team alongside GPs, Pharmacists, and Nursing colleagues.
  • Contribute to quality improvement, clinical governance and service development initiatives.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Qualifications
  • Qualified healthcare professional with current NMC registration.
  • Educated to masters degree level in accordance with the NHS England. Multi-Professional Framework for Advanced Clinical Practice.
  • Registered on the appropriate professional register.
  • Independent Prescriber Qualification (V300).
  • Evidence of ongoing Continuing Professional Development.

Desirable

  • Teaching, mentoring or supervision qualification
  • Minor illness or urgent care qualification

Clinical Knowledge and Skills

Essential

  • Advanced clinical assessment skills.
  • Ability to independently assess, diagnose and manage acute and minor illness.
  • Strong clinical reasoning and decision-making skills.
  • Competent Independent Prescriber.
  • Ability to request, interpret and act upon investigations.
  • Understanding of evidence-based practice.
  • Good clinical system knowledge and accurate record keeping.
  • Understanding of safeguarding adults and children.
  • Understanding of clinical governance and risk management.
  • Knowledge of QOF and enhanced services.

Desirable

  • Minor injury assessment and management skills.
  • Experience supporting service development initiatives.

Experience

Essential

  • Minimum two years' experience as a Nurse Practitioner or Advanced Nurse Practitioner.
  • Demonstrable evidence of autonomous clinical practice.
  • Experience assessing, diagnosing and managing acute and minor illness.
  • Experience managing undifferentiated presentations.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Commitment to delivering patient-centred care.
  • Knowledge and experience of acute and chronic disease management.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding, clinical governance and risk management.

Desirable

  • Experience of Emergency Care, Urgent Treatment Centre or Minor Injury Unit settings.
  • Experience of working in General Practice.
  • Experience of same-day access or Duty Team working.
  • Experience using Systmone.
