Looking for a new challenge in mental health? We are seeking to recruit a full time Activity Coordinator to join one of our Mental Health Wards based ...
- Engage service users in physical and recreational activity appropriate to their individual needs and abilities.
- Plan and co-ordinate a programme of activity under the supervision and direction of members of the multi-disciplinary team.
- Organise and plan service user events in collaboration with MDT colleagues to promote inclusivity.
- Develop and use practical and technical skills with service users, either through your own identification of need or as suggested by members of the multi-disciplinary team
- Work with service users to improve their mental health, physical health and wellbeing.
- Assist in identifying service user's strengths and needs in order to plan and implement suitable activities for groups and individual service users

Skills & Knowledge:
Essential
- Active interest in & willingness to participate in delivering a wide range of therapeutic activities with all patients.
- Good interpersonal skills to work with patients, carers & staff.
- Time management & organisational skills to undertake activities.
Desirable
- Prior skill & experience in a relevant area of work e.g. creative arts, crafts, physical fitness
- Acknowledgement and experience of needing to assess patient's risks in relation to certain activities.
- Experience of running groups/sessions
- Basic knowledge of the Mental Health Act
Experience/ Qualifications/ Training
Essential
- Care certificate/other qualification or ability to complete when starting on Allen Ward.
- Good literacy and numeracy skills
- Ability to understand and proactively Safeguard patients and others.
Desirable
- Experience of working with people within a mental health setting
Other Work Related Requirements:
Essential
- Positive attitude to people with mental health diagnoses.
- Recognition of needing to work flexibly and to be adaptive as required by the service.
