We are looking for an experienced and motivated individual to lead the Trust's Access to Health Records and Freedom of Information functions, while al...

  • Lead the day-to-day delivery of the Trust's Access to Health Records and Freedom of Information services.
  • Ensure Subject Access Requests, Access to Health Records requests and FOI requests are managed accurately and within statutory timescales.
  • Provide support and guidance on complex, sensitive and high-risk information requests.
  • Monitor workloads, performance and compliance, identifying risks and areas for improvement.
  • Support and develop staff within the service, promoting consistent standards and effective ways of working.
  • Support the Trust's Registration Authority function and secure access to clinical systems.
  • Work closely with Information Governance, Corporate Applications and teams across the Trust to provide a joined-up service.
  • Help shape and improve the service as Access to Health Records, FOI and related functions are brought together under a single lead.

2.EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS & TRAINING

Essential

  • Educated to degree level, or equivalent level of experience of working at a managerial level in a health records / information governance environment
  • Evidence of continued professional development relevant to health records management, information governance or data protection

Desirable: - o Diploma of the Institute of Health Records & Information Management (IHRIM), or working towards, or equivalent professional qualification / experience

3.EXPERIENCE

Essential

  • Significant experience of working within a Medical Records, Information Governance or similar records management environment
  • Experience of processing Access to Health Records requests/ FOI's within statutory timescales
  • Experience of supervising, training, and allocating work to staff
  • Experience of supervising, training, and allocating work to staff or working within the NHS or another large, complex public sector organisation

4.SKILLS, ABILITIES & KNOWLEDGE

Essential

  • Sound working knowledge of the Data Protection Act 2018/UK GDPR, Freedom of Information Act 2000, Access to Health Records Act 1990 and related legislation
  • Competent user of Patient Administration Systems, databases and Microsoft Office applications
  • Ability to supervise, train and support the development of staff

Desirable: - o Knowledge of Registration Authority / Smartcard and digital identity processes (Desirable)

5.SPECIAL CIRCUMSTANCES

Essential: - o Ability to travel independently between Trust sites
