Provide operational management of the North East and North Cumbria AAA Screening Programme. Coordinate screening services across hospital and community venues, ensuring clinics are staffed, equipped and used effectively. Ensure the programme meets national screening standards, performance requirements and quality assurance expectations. Manage and support the AAA screening team, including recruitment, training, supervision, appraisal and HR processes. Liaise with commissioners, NHS England quality assurance teams, the vascular network, primary care, clinical teams and other stakeholders. Monitor programme performance and activity Analyse, validate and report screening, operational and mortality data, producing reports for programme boards and external review. Lead service development, including reviewing local procedures, SOPs and protocols in line with national guidance. Oversee quality assurance arrangements for staff, equipment, venues and screening processes. Support capacity and demand planning, ensuring sufficient staff and clinic capacity are available. Manage delegated financial and physical resources, including consumables, equipment and budget monitoring. Represent the programme at local, regional and national meetings. Maintain secure and accurate records, databases and reports in line with data protection requirements.
Key responsibilities include
- Managing the day-to-day delivery of the AAA screening programme across hospital and community screening sites.
- Coordinating staff, clinics, equipment, venues and administrative processes to ensure effective service delivery.
- Monitoring programme performance, attendance, activity, call/recall processes and patient pathways.
- Ensuring compliance with national screening standards, policies, procedures and quality assurance requirements.
- Managing and supporting screening and administrative staff, including recruitment, training, supervision, appraisal, rotas and HR processes.
- Overseeing data collection, validation, analysis and reporting for screening, operational and mortality data.
- Producing reports and performance updates for programme boards, commissioners and quality assurance reviews.
- Supporting patients and relatives with enquiries, concerns and pathway issues, escalating clinical concerns appropriately.
- Leading service improvement, reviewing SOPs and protocols, and implementing changes to improve pathway quality and efficiency.
- Managing delegated financial and physical resources, including consumables, equipment and budget monitoring.
- Representing the programme at local, regional and national meetings.
Key relationships The post holder will work closely with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders to support the effective delivery of the AAA screening programme. Key relationships include: - Programme Director and Clinical Director.
- Service Line Manager and senior management team.
- AAA screening and administrative teams.
- Vascular laboratory and vascular clinical teams.
- Primary care colleagues and GP practices.
- Commissioners and Integrated Care Board representatives.
- NHS England Screening Quality Assurance Team.
- North East and North Cumbria Vascular Network.
- Screening venues across the region.
- Patients, relatives and members of the public.
- Trust corporate services including finance, HR, governance, IT and information teams.
- Regional and national AAA screening programme colleagues.
