We have an exciting opportunity for enthusiastic, motivated and ambitious Senior Pharmacy Assistants to join our dynamic team working flexible bank sh...

To be responsible for specific activities in pharmacy stores, dispensary and ward-based medicines management.

To dispense medicines to inpatients, outpatients and day cases, provide technical support to ward based clinical pharmacy technicians and provide medicines topping up services to wards.

To ensure a patient centric approach to all activities undertaken by the pharmacy department.

To ensure the quality assurance agenda is embedded into all aspects of work undertaken by all staff both in the Pharmacy and at ward level.

Education

Essential

  • 2 G.C.S.E.'s including Maths & English language grade C/4 or above, C.S.E 1 or an equivalent qualification (such as functional skills level 2)

Desirable

  • ny relevant pharmacy dispensing qualification / completed within 1 year of post probationary period.

Personal qualities

Essential

  • Self-motivation
  • Ability to work flexibly
  • Ability to concentrate for long periods

Desirable

  • Ability to stand/be on feet for long periods of time
  • Able to deal with regular interruptions and demands
  • Able to deal with distressed or aggressive people on the phone/ face to face
  • Ability to cope with occasional exposure to unpleasant smells

Knowledge and experience

Essential

  • Able to work to procedures
  • Ability to work alone and as part of a team

Desirable

  • Worked in another hospital or retail Pharmacy
  • Able to offer advice on the safe storage of drugs
  • Understanding of their part in the hospital team
  • Evidence of: Interpersonal, influencing and negotiation skills with other team members

Skills

Essential

  • Able to communicate with all other members of the team
  • Ability to work alone and as part of a team

Desirable

  • IT skills (for Pharmacy computer)
  • Able to communicate with other healthcare professionals
