An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 3 Nursing Support Worker on Cadog ward, Glangwilli Hospital, Carmarthen. The post offers the opportunity...

The post holder should hold an NVQ level 3 in Health related qualification or equivalent experience. They will need to demonstrate that they have good communication skills and that they are an excellent team player as well as being able to work alone. They will be expected to work alongside both the nursing and the therapies team.

The post will include working 7 days a week, with night and day duty.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Hywel Dda University Health Board plans and provides NHS healthcare services for people living in Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire, and bordering counties.

We have over 13,000 staff and together we provide primary, community, in-hospital, mental health and learning disabilities services.

We work in partnership with the three local authorities, as well as public, private and third sector colleagues, including our valued team of volunteers.

Our services are provided in

  • Four main hospitals: Bronglais Hospital in Aberystwyth; Glangwili Hospital in Carmarthen; Prince Philip Hospital in Llanelli; and Withybush Hospital in Haverfordwest
  • Five community hospitals: Amman Valley and Llandovery hospitals in Carmarthenshire; Tregaron Hospital in Ceredigion; and Tenby and South Pembrokeshire hospitals in Pembrokeshire
  • Two integrated care centres: Aberaeron and Cardigan in Ceredigion, and several other community settings
  • 47 general practices (six of which are health board managed practices); dental practices (including four orthodontic); 97 community pharmacies; 43 general ophthalmic practices; and 8 ophthalmic domiciliary providers
  • Numerous mental health and learning disabilities services

Qualifications and Knowledge

Essential

  • Level 3 qualification in a health care related subject Or Equivalent experience and can evidence work based competency demonstrating theoretical knowledge, and the ability to undertake clinical care duties relevant for the role which is gained through experience and worked based training/short courses.
  • Knowledge of the Code of Conduct for Healthcare Support Workers in Wales and All Wales Delegation Guidelines (HEIW).
  • Knowledge of relevant policies and procedures within a healthcare setting for example the principles of Safeguarding adults/children to keep patients within their care safe, and confidentiality for example General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR).

Experience

Essential

  • Experience of working within a relevant health or social care environment, providing direct patient care.

Desirable

  • Experience of working with patient groups relevant to area of practice.
  • Experience of working within the NHS.

Skills and Attributes

Desirable

  • Welsh Language Skills (Level 1)
