Job description
Due to retirement we are looking for either a Health Care Assistant or a Nursing Associate to work 12 - 37 hours per week.
It is a varied role and all out HCAs and Nursing Associates offer a wide range of services, which would include Phlebotomy, ECGs, basic wound care alongside the registered nurses, health checks, smoking advice, annual reviews.

Kennedy Way Surgery is looking to recruit a Health Care Assistant/Nursing Associate to join our well-established team for between 12 37 hours per week.
We are looking for a hardworking, reliable and well-motivated person to join our busy nursing team who strives to ensure that our patients receive the best possible care from the Practice.
You will a part of our friendly, welcoming and supportive team.
Kennedy Way Surgery is situated in the town of Yate with ample parking and amenities close by.
We serve the community of Yate and surrounding areas. Our patient population is 12,500 patients.
You will be part of a large multi-disciplinary team. We have 4 partners and 6 salaried GPs working alongside a paramedic, nursing team, pharmacy tech, physiotherapists, social prescriber, with a back-office team comprising of reception, secretarial and admin.
We consult using EMIS Web Clinical system with Ardens clinical decision support tool and docman as our document management system.
Job Description/Main Duties of the Job
New patient health checks
ECG recording
Urine testing/analysis
Blood pressure measurement/monitoring
Height and weight measurement
Wound Care.
Diabetic foot checks
Lifestyle advice
Phlebotomy
INR Monitoring
Chaperoning duties
Processing and management of laboratory samples requested by GPs/nurses.
Vaccine/cold chain storage, monitoring and recording.
Surgical equipment and vaccine re-stocking and stock rotation
Clearing and re-stocking consulting rooms
Preparing and maintaining environments and equipment before, during and after patient care interventions, including assisting GPs during the performance of minor operations
Assisting in the assessment and surveillance of patients health and well-being
Undertaking specific clinical activities for named patients that have been delegated and taught specifically in relation to that individual.
There may be on occasion, a requirement to carry out other tasks; this will be depending upon factors such as workload and staffing levels
Qualifications
Essential
- GCSE
- Qualified in Phlebotomy
Experience

- We are looking for a HCA/Nursing Associate with previous experience in general practice
We are a friendly team who all try to to carry out their roles to the best of their ability. Everyone is willing and happy to help each other as and when required. We try to offer a same day service for GPs for both routine and urgent requests. We have 4 partners, 6 salaried GPs, working alongside a reception, secretarial and admin team, nurses, HCAs,nursing associate, pharmacy tech, paramedic, social prescriber, and physiotherapists.
