Holistic Recruiters Ltd is an NHS commissioned healthcare provider delivering innovative community-based services that improve outcomes for individuals whilst reducing unnecessary hospital admissions.
Crowlin Recovery House is a pioneering NHS-funded Mental Health Recovery House providing a 24-hour, short-term, non-clinical residential alternative to hospital admission for adults experiencing a mental health crisis.
The service offers a safe, therapeutic and trauma-informed environment where individuals can stabilise, recover and safely return home through personalised recovery planning and partnership working with the Crisis Resolution Home Treatment Teams (CRHTTs). The Recovery House operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year and provides accommodation for up to ten guests.
The Deputy Service Manager supports the Service Manager in leading the daily operations of a 24 hour NHS-funded Mental Health Recovery House, ensuring the delivery of a safe, high quality, person-centred, trauma-informed, and recovery focused service for adults experiencing a mental health crisis. The role combines operational leadership, staff management, quality assurance, governance, financial oversight, and partnership working to ensure excellent outcomes for service users.
- Lead the day-to-day operation of the Recovery House, including staffing, admissions, occupancy management, shift coordination, and service delivery.
- Deliver high quality support through effective needs assessments, risk assessments, interventions, personalised support planning, and structured programmes of meaningful recovery-focused activities.
- Supervise, mentor, coach, and develop staff and volunteers through recruitment, induction, training, supervision, appraisals, performance management, and absence management, while taking accountability for team performance.
- Work collaboratively with NHS Crisis Resolution Home Treatment Teams, Community Mental Health Teams, Social Care, Housing Providers, Police, Ambulance Service, Local Authorities, and voluntary organisations to coordinate referrals, admissions, reviews, and discharge planning.
- Ensure compliance with safeguarding, CQC standards, NHS contractual requirements, GDPR, Health & Safety legislation, and the Quality Assessment Framework (QAF).
- Oversee quality assurance, audits, incident management, complaints, safeguarding investigations, action plans, and continuous service improvement.
- Implement effective systems for monitoring, recording, analysing, and reporting service performance, using data to improve quality and achieve NHS performance targets.
- Manage financial and administrative control systems, monitor staffing costs and budgets, reduce agency usage, and ensure value for money.
- Promote workforce development through coaching, reflective practice, leadership development, and mandatory training.
- Ensure accurate use of Birdie, NHS systems, MHSDS, Microsoft 365, electronic care records, and rostering systems while maintaining confidentiality and GDPR compliance.
- Promote a proactive approach to health and safety, risk management, infection prevention, fire safety, lone working, and business continuity.
- Should be able to participate on an On Call
- Level 3 Diploma in Health & Social Care (minimum) and ideally a Level 5 Leadership qualification (or working towards).
- Minimum two years' experience as a Deputy Manager or a senior role within mental health, supported living, crisis team, or community services.
- Experience leading multidisciplinary teams, safeguarding adults, managing incidents, quality assurance, and partnership working.
- Strong leadership, communication, coaching, organisational, decision-making, IT, report writing, and problem-solving skills.
- Sound knowledge of the Mental Health Recovery Model, Trauma-Informed Care, Mental Capacity Act, safeguarding, risk management, and quality assurance.
Desirable Requirements
- PMVA (Prevention and Management of Violence and Aggression) or equivalent conflict management training.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
