Community Support Worker - Community Midwifery

The role is based within the wider Community Midwifery team, working closely with the Community Midwives. As a Community Support Worker you would help to promote and support women to initiate and maintain breastfeeding for longer. Amongst the wider divisional team, you with ensure the ongoing UNICEF Baby Friendly accreditation and strive for ongoing improvement. Carry out clinics for new born blood spot screening and provide administrative support to the team and the community/continuity managers.

A proficient health care support worker, who works as part of the multidisciplinary team to improve the quality of care for women, newborn infant, and their families. The post holder will provide specific and recognisable support to prospective and new parents in developing essential parenting skills by working in collaboration with the clinical team, and according to parental needs and choice. To support the implementation of the Baby Friendly initiative and to support Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Trusts commitment to increasing breastfeeding rates.

The post holder will carry out assigned tasks involving direct care and support to women, babies and families, involving lone working in patient's homes and clinics. This may involve care at any stage throughout pregnancy, or the postnatal period within either the community or hospital setting.

The post holder will be required to work in both the hospital and community setting, providing a service which may include some unsocial hours, weekends and Bank Holidays.
