We are recruiting on behalf of our client, a well-established luxury nursing home in Caldicot, for a Deputy Manager to work closely with the General Manager and help lead the clinical operation of the home.
The position offers a salary of £50,000 per annum, dedicated supernumerary hours and, importantly, the home is prepared to provide training and support for the right Clinical Lead or experienced Senior Nurse who is ready to step up into their first Deputy Manager position.
A Deputy Manager Role With Time to Actually Lead
This is an opportunity to have a genuine influence on the clinical standards and day-to-day operation of the home.
Your supernumerary hours will provide dedicated time away from routine floor duties to focus on clinical leadership, governance, quality, staff development and resident care.
Working alongside the General Manager, your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting the day-to-day management and clinical operation of the nursing home
- Leading, mentoring and supporting Registered Nurses and care teams
- Maintaining excellent standards of person-centred nursing care
- Reviewing care plans and risk assessments
- Supporting admissions and pre-admission assessments
- Overseeing safe medication management and administration
- Completing clinical audits and supporting quality-improvement initiatives
- Maintaining high standards of clinical governance and CQC compliance
- Supporting safeguarding, MCA and DoLS processes
- Developing staff through supervision, mentoring and clinical competencies
- Working closely with GPs, healthcare professionals, residents and families
- Supporting dementia, nursing, palliative and end-of-life care
- Managing incidents and ensuring appropriate actions are completed
- Supporting the General Manager with the overall performance of the home
- Participating in the management on-call rota
- Providing clinical support during emergencies, including occasional night cover when required
You do not need to already be a Deputy Manager to apply.
Our client is particularly interested in hearing from experienced Clinical Leads, Unit Leads and Senior Nurses who have developed strong nursing-home leadership experience and are now ready for greater responsibility.

- RGN or RMN qualification with current NMC registration
- Strong nursing-home or care-home experience
- Experience within elderly, dementia or complex nursing care
- Experience as a Deputy Manager, Clinical Lead, Unit Lead or experienced Senior Nurse
- Strong leadership and team-management skills
- Good medication-management knowledge
- Experience with care planning and risk assessments
- Understanding of safeguarding, MCA and DoLS
- Good knowledge of CQC standards and clinical governance
- Confidence supporting and developing nursing and care teams
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
- A compassionate and resident-focused approach
