Children's Residential Care | Learning Disabilities & Complex Behaviours
Could You Be the Person Who Makes the Difference?
Some young people need more than someone to support their daily routines. They need someone who understands their challenges, celebrates their achievements and helps them feel safe, valued and understood.
Could that person be you?
Spero Recruitment is looking for experienced, compassionate and resilient Children's Residential Support Workers in Wolverhampton to join a residential care service supporting young people with learning disabilities, additional needs and behaviours that challenge.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with experience in learning disability support, behaviour management or residential care who wants to build a long-term career making a genuine difference.
With permanent PAYE employment, competitive pay and a choice of 36 or 48-hour contracts, this could be your next career move.
As a Children's Residential Support Worker, you'll provide consistent, person-centred care to young people who may require additional emotional, behavioural and practical support.
Your role will involve helping young people develop confidence, build independence and feel secure in their home environment.
Supporting children and young people with learning disabilities and complex needs
Managing behaviours that challenge using positive behaviour support and de-escalation techniques
Building trusting, professional relationships with young people
Supporting emotional regulation and positive daily routines
Encouraging independence and developing essential life skills
Supporting meal preparation, nutrition and healthy choices
Promoting participation in activities and everyday experiences
Following individual care plans, behaviour support plans and risk assessments
Maintaining accurate records using digital care planning systems
Working collaboratively with colleagues and other professionals
Recognising and responding appropriately to safeguarding concerns
Creating a safe, structured and nurturing residential environment
This is a hands-on role where patience, consistency and the ability to remain calm under pressure are essential.
We're looking for experienced care professionals who understand that supporting young people with complex needs requires the right combination of compassion, confidence, resilience and practical experience.
✔ At least 12 months' experience supporting individuals with learning disabilities and behaviours that challenge
✔ PMVA training (Prevention and Management of Violence and Aggression)
✔ Strong de-escalation and positive behaviour management skills
✔ Experience promoting independent living skills, including daily routines and nutrition
✔ Confidence using digital care planning systems and maintaining accurate records
✔ A full, valid UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle
✔ NVQ/QCF Level 2 or Level 3 in Health & Social Care, either Children & Young People or Adults
✔ The existing right to work in the UK without sponsorship
Experience in children's residential care, specialist learning disability services or complex behavioural support would be particularly relevant.
For some young people, small achievements can represent enormous progress.
It might be learning to prepare a meal independently.
Managing a difficult emotion without reaching crisis point.
Building confidence in a new activity.
Or simply learning to trust someone who consistently shows up for them.
Your role is about recognising those moments, encouraging progress and helping young people achieve more than they thought possible.
If you're someone who can combine clear boundaries with genuine warmth, remain calm during challenging situations and celebrate every step forward, we'd love to hear from you.
These positions do not offer visa sponsorship.
All applicants must already have the right to work in the UK and be able to provide the appropriate documentation.
