Job description
Our Senior Nursing Support Workers assist nursing staff to provide family centred and holistic support to children with life shortening conditions and their families. Alongside compassion and care, laughter and finding fun in each day are important parts of the role.
If you are a support worker with experience working with children with complex care needs (or relevant experience), we would love to hear from you!
We would like you to bring
Experience working with children with complex care needs, or can evidence relevant experience (for example, working with adults in palliative care, working in hospice environment or ASN team)
Educated to SVQ level 3/HNC in a Health, Social or Child Care or can evidence equivalent experience
Relevant knowledge of care procedures such as nutritional and airway support using a variety of equipment and access devices along with clinical observations skills. (Examples – NG, Gastrostomy support. Seizure care and management and Airway support including suction)
Our children’s palliative care team report great satisfaction in being able to provide high quality nursing care in a supportive team with exciting skills development opportunities.
Flexibility – we offer a range of shifts, after your initial induction and shadow shifts, as a bank worker you accept shifts that work for you!
Meaningful work – working within the hospice you can see where your work makes a difference to the children and families that CHAS support.
Supportive environment, working within an experienced team. The opportunity to work within a multi-disciplinary team which includes volunteers.
Opportunity to develop your clinical skills in care interventions including airway management through tracheostomy care, naso-pharyngeal tubes, suction, non-invasive and invasive ventilation.

Rachel House, CHAS’ hospice in Kinross (KY13 8FX) is embarking on an exciting two-year rebuild programme from Summer/Autumn 2026. During this time our hospice services will continue to run from a temporary site in Kinglassie, Fife called Mina House (KY5 0XT).
Mina House is a 20 minute drive from Rachel House.
