Maintain a high standard of clinical work when carrying out nursing and casting procedures. Maintaining stock levels, ensuring materials ordered when required.

Responsible for the safe custody of the Emergency trolley, including checking and reordering medical gases and any other medication. Ensure compliance with our clinical governance framework, you will motivate colleagues, champion service user safety and dignity and drive continuous improvement in Casting.

Practice in accordance with the NMC/ BOA casting standards. Adhere to hospital Policies and assist in promoting an open and friendly working environment, being inclusive and supportive of your colleagues, and embracing differences.

Attending to the Casting needs of outpatients, inpatients and patients in theatres and scanning. Our clientele are children, adults, patient with special needs.

You must be able to work well in a small team, and be required to assist with casting and on completion of the British Casting Certificate be able to apply casts independently without supervision. Providing assessment, planning, application of a wide variety of casts and evaluation and solving of various casting problems.

Assisting the Orthotics team with negative casting within the plaster department.

Attending to wounds under casts as required/taking out sutures and liaising with other members of the Multidisciplinary teams as required. Working in different areas providing cast care, such as on the wards, MRI, Theatres as and when required.

Participate and teach as appropriate in the departments in-service education programme seeking to develop nursing practice. Seek to develop their own professional and personal development, completing the BOA Casting Certificate, ensuring mandatory training is kept up to date as per hospital policy. To attend suitable casting study days/conferences in order to keep up to date with innovation and research in this field.

Assist with maintenance of equipment and stock levels, develop and awareness of cost implications of equipment and supplies.

Mentoring students and supporting other learners within the department. Give formal lectures as required for the department and assisting in any department projects pertinent to the Casting field.

Participate in nursing/casting audits and assist in the setting and evaluation of standards of care.

Practice unsupervised according to approved procedures within casting and Orthopaedic casting standards.
