Job description
We are seeking a caring, dependable and resilient Residential Support Worker to join our team. The care home(s) where you will primarily work are in Haverhill and Ely, located in Cambridgeshire. You will help provide a safe, nurturing and structured home environment in which young people feel supported, valued and able to achieve positive outcomes.
- Provide consistent, person-centred care tailored to each young person’s needs.
- Build trusting and professional relationships while maintaining appropriate boundaries.
- Support young people with daily routines, education, appointments, activities and community engagement.
- Promote independence, confidence, emotional wellbeing and positive behaviour.
- Maintain a safe, welcoming and homely environment.
- Follow individual care plans, risk assessments and safeguarding procedures.
- Respond calmly and appropriately to challenging situations.
- Complete accurate daily records, reports and other required documentation.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues, families and external professionals.
- Participate in handovers, team meetings, training and supervision.
- Support with household duties and the smooth day-to-day running of the home.
The successful candidate will be compassionate, patient and reliable, with the ability to remain calm under pressure. You should be committed to safeguarding young people and comfortable working as part of a professional care team.
Mandatory
- Valid UK Driving Licence (Own car is not necessary as the home provides a vehicle)
- Overseas Police/Criminal History Check (if applicable)
- Experience in Residential Childcare and Social Care
- Level 3 in Residential Childcare (or equivalent)
- Enhanced DBS Certificate (on the update service) - An application may be made if this is not readily available.
