About the Role We are currently recruiting a Band 5/6 Ophthalmic Nurse (RGN) to join the Eye Emergency Department at Southmead Hospital. This is an exciting opportunity to work within a specialist ophthalmic service, providing urgent eye care to both adult and paediatric patients. You will be part of a skilled multidisciplinary team delivering high-quality patient care in a busy clinical environment. What You'll Do Assess and triage adult and paediatric ophthalmic patients Conduct face-to-face and telephone assessments Perform slit lamp examinations (or undertake training if required) Deliver treatment under Patient Group Directions (PGDs) and clinical guidelines Support the management of acutely unwell patients Contribute to achieving the 4-hour patient pathway target Maintain accurate clinical records and documentation Deliver safe, effective, and patient-centred care What You'll Need Valid NMC Registration Previous experience within Ophthalmology or Eye Emergency services (preferred) Slit lamp examination competency or willingness to undertake training Strong assessment and triage skills Excellent communication and clinical decision-making abilities Up-to-date mandatory training and compliance documentation Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment Why Work With Us?
